If you register with your Council's elections office, you get paid to count the votes at polling time, this can be in four-hour shifts, or longer. One MoneySaver reports earning £180 for working from 9pm - 5am.

Be warned though: you're usually contracted until the job is finished, so if it runs over you won't be paid extra (the flipside being that if you finish quicker you'll still earn the same).
